Walpole had a shaky start to their opening match against Wellesley, trailing the Raiders for most of the first set by as much as 6 points. The Rebels slowly chipped away at the points, tied it up at 16-16, and took the lead and win of set 1, with seven kills from junior captain Abby Rae. The Rebels picked up momentum and lead a tight set for #2 but let Wellesley keep close and tie it up at 22-22. Unforced errors by Walpole resulted in the set 2 loss. The Rebels regrouped and played more aggressively in set 3. Aces from senior Nora Mortali, senior captain Wynter Conlon, and junior McKenzie Rae and kills from M. Rae, A. Rae, and sophomore Molly Whelan contributed to the earned points and the set win. Set 4 was a battle with both teams picking up the offense and challenging the other team. Three kills and an ace from senior Meghan Koenig and four kills and an ace from A. Rae contributed to the set and match win.
